- User-friendly features: Include an automatic 121-point leveling system, a built-in chamber camera for monitoring, a dual-sided build plate, and an air filter.

High-speed and quality printing
- CoreXY motion system: This advanced structure enables speeds of up to 500 mm/s and accelerations of 20,000 mm/s², ensuring fast print times.
- Integrated die-cast frame: A rigid aluminum frame provides superior stability, reducing vibrations to maintain high accuracy and print quality even at high speeds.
- Excellent print quality: The Centauri Carbon has received praise for producing high-quality prints right out of the box with minimal tuning.
Ease of use
- Print Right Out of the Box: The printer arrives fully assembled and pre-calibrated, making it accessible for beginners.
- Full-auto calibration: An automatic 121-point bed leveling system, auto Z-offset, and automatic vibration compensation eliminate the need for complex manual setup.
- Intuitive interface: A 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen makes navigating settings and controlling the printer straightforward.

Material versatility
- 320°C nozzle: Thanks to its high-temperature, brass-hardened steel nozzle, the printer easily handles a wide range of advanced filaments. In addition to standard PLA, it also supports materials such as ABS, PC, nylon, and even carbon-fiber-reinforced blends, allowing you to expand your projects far beyond basic prints.
- Enclosed chamber: The fully enclosed design helps regulate temperature, which is essential for printing high-temp materials and minimizing warping.
- Dual-sided build plate: The magnetic PEI build plate features a textured side and a specialized smooth PLA surface, providing excellent adhesion and easy model removal.

Designed for advanced materials, Centauri Carbon is equipped with a 320 °C brass-hardened steel nozzle and superior cooling inside a fully enclosed chamber. It specializes in carbon fiber-reinforced filament, enabling you to create strong, lightweight, and heat-resistant parts for aerospace, automotive, and athletic applications.
Centauri Carbon prints fast with an advanced CoreXY system. It reaches 500 mm/s, accelerates at 20,000 mm/s², and pushes 32 mm³/s of filament. The high-power heated bed heats up quickly, allowing you to start printing right away.
- 500 mm/s print speed
- 20,000 mm/s² acceleration
- 32 mm³/s flow rate
- Fast-heating bed for instant prints
Dual-Sided Flexible Plate
The Elegoo Centauri Carbon’s upgraded dual-sided plate adds versatility and performance. Its PLA-specific surface gives excellent adhesion with minimal warping, even at low bed temperatures.
- Two usable sides for more flexibility
- PLA-specific texture for better grip
- Reduced warping at lower heatbed temps
- Quick, clean part removal

How the dual-sided plate works
The build plate is made of magnetic spring steel. It securely attaches to the printer’s heated bed. Moreover, the magnetic connection makes removal quick and effortless. You can easily take it off for print extraction. Additionally, you can flip it to use the other side. This clever design offers two unique printing surfaces. Therefore, it suits different filament types and finish preferences.
Side 1: Textured PEI Surface

On the first side, you’ll find the standard textured PEI surface. Because of its proven reliability, this traditional surface provides excellent adhesion for a wide variety of filaments, including:
- PLA: Standard polyactic acid.
- ABS: Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.
- PETG: Polyethylene terephthalate glycol.
- Carbon fiber-reinforced filaments: Materials that require a more durable and adhesive surface.
Side 2: New PLA Specific Surface (Cool Plate)
The second, smoother side optimizes printing specifically for PLA.
- Excellent adhesion: This specialized surface ensures strong adhesion for PLA prints, preventing warping and ensuring a successful first layer.
- Lower temperatures: The surface performs well even at lower bed temperatures. Moreover, it is ideally suited for PLA printing. Elegoo reports that PLA adheres easily at just 30°C. Therefore, you don’t need a high bed temperature. As a result, the printer consumes less energy overall. Additionally, this makes printing more efficient and cost-effective.
- Easy removal: Once printing is complete and the plate has cooled, the spring steel surface becomes flexible, allowing for easy removal. Therefore, you can bend it to release the model, and as a result, you often remove prints without needing extra too
- Minimal warping: By providing a stable, dedicated surface, this side of the plate helps minimize the warping that can sometimes occur with PLA prints

FAQs
What materials can the Centauri Carbon print with that many competitors can’t?
It can handle advanced, abrasive filaments like carbon-fiber reinforced materials, ABS, PC and nylon because of its 320 °C hardened steel nozzle and enclosed heated chamber.
How fast is it compared to similar printers?
Booking your dream vacation is simple! Learn how to select destinations, customize Its CoreXY motion enables speeds up to ~500 mm/s and high acceleration (~20,000 mm/s²), which outpaces many consumer printers with similar build volumes.
Does it offer dual-surface build plate features?
The textured PEI side grips strongly to ensure reliable adhesion with many filaments, while the PLA side minimizes warping and delivers smooth prints at lower bed temperatures
Is the bed leveling automated or manual?
The Centauri Carbon uses automatic bed leveling (strain gauge type in some reviews), which saves time and improves first-layer consistency.
How does its cooling/enclosure compare to rivals?
The fully enclosed chamber + superior cooling fans make it better suited for temperature-sensitive filaments (ABS, nylon etc.), reducing warping and environmental effects.
What’s the print volume and how does that compare?
It offers a sizable ~256 x 256 x 256 mm build volume, matching or exceeding many similarly priced competitors.
Is setup difficult for beginners?
Not really — reviews mention about a 30-minute setup from unboxing to first print, which puts it ahead of many that require more hardware tweaking.
How is software & firmware support?
Firmware updates have already addressed earlier bugs; software uses custom slicer profiles and has shown improvements over time. Some critiques exist around closed firmware (less modifiable).
What are common weaknesses to be aware of?
Some early units had QC issues (loose parts, auto-level problems), occasional connectivity issues, and noise. Later units seem more refined.
How does price vs value stack up against alternatives?
Its launch price undercuts many higher-end CoreXY enclosed printers. For the features offered (speed, nozzle, materials, enclosure), it offers strong value compared to competitors like Bambu X1C, Creality K-series, etc.
